It takes extra patience, passion, a big smile and a positive attitude in order for one to go through a CNA, or Certified Nurse Assistance class but it can also be a very rewarding one.

Naturally, the nature of this career would involve having to take care of sick patients – feed them, bathe them, dress them and provide them with their needed medications. So, why would you want to go through CNA online classes and CNA training, aside from your desire to extend your services to others?

Reasons for taking CNA classes online: Most often, people would decide to pursue their studies at a much later phase in life, when they already have families and jobs that would take up much of their time. Fortunately, modern technology is able to bring benefits such as making learning from home possible.

CNA classes online are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week so one has the flexibility to go on with the next lesson or not, as the case may be. Also, the pace being followed by CNA classes online would depend upon one’s learning abilities, since there is no instructor to “force feed” the pace.

Thus fast learners and those with initiative who could study and retain their knowledge at a much faster rate than the usual are able to finish the course at an earlier period.

It would therefore be soon enough that the person could start applying for a job in the health care field. Why should you go online?

As mentioned above, family and work often take a big part of someone’s time making the dream to pursue one’s studies an impossible thing to do. However, the times have changed and it is now possible for anyone to turn on the computer during spare time and then read a little bit, depending on your own learning pace.

Another reason why CNA classes online are preferred is because you are able to save more money in the process. Think about it – there is no longer a need to commute to school or buy books and other school materials since you could pretty much do anything on the computer anyway.

Free CNA classes online Free lessons in CNA are hard to come by. There could be lots of them all over the internet but not all of them are reliable enough. However, you could always try checking for free CNA classes online, check at least the top ten sites if they are truly what you were looking for. Otherwise, you could look through the website of a prestigious school and see if they offer scholarships or student discounts for those who wish to avail of it.

Becoming a certified nurse assistant can be one stressful job so it would be a good start to learn things at your own pace. In no time, you will have been able to go for a career change and do things that you really want to do. You will eventually be able to experience how rewarding the job actually is.

CNA Classes in Chicago

Those who aspire to be nurses in the state of Illinois don’t need to look any further than Chicago to find a variety of training options. CNA classes in Chicago are plentiful, making the city a great place to live, visit, or simply go to school. Everyone knows that Chicago is famous for elegant shopping and unique cuisine, but there is much more to experience than that.

The rivers in and around the city are packed with sightseeing cruises, for obvious reasons. As you walk along the water you can check out a famous Chicago attraction – Buckingham Fountain. There is an endless supply of activities to keep you busy when you are not in class for your CNA training.

Speaking of CNA programs, two Chicago academic institutions that offer a 2-year CNA program are Wilbur Wright College and Harold Washington College. Applicants who graduate from the program are then eligible to take the Illinois exam for CNA certification.

Wibur Wright College

Wilbur Wright is a college that spans many campuses and offers numerous academic programs. They offer associate degree programs, adult education, continued education, career programs, and many transfer courses.

WWC has a great certificate program aimed at students who want a basic nursing assistant certificate. This program is fully licensed and endorsed by Illinois’ Department of Public Health.

Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate: The Wilber Wright College CNA program offers course and lab work, as well as supervised hands-on clinical training. This course is available at two locations – the HPVC (Humboldt Park Vocational Center) and the primary campus. The requirements to enter the program are as follows:

  • a pass grade on the reading comprehension test
  • a clear criminal history
  • a current immunization record
  • a social security card

Wilbur Wright College does its best to offer flexible learning opportunities to its students. The CNA certificate program is run three times every year and the school offers day, evening, and even weekend classes.

Harold Washington College

Part of the CCC (City Colleges of Chicago) network – HWC – is a public institution that offers numerous academic opportunities, including degree and certificate programs, distance learning and continued education programs. The CNA program at Harold Washington is one of over 15 certificate programs currently offered at the school.

Basic Nursing Certificate Program: Harold Washington College offers some of the most in-depth CNA classes in Chicago. Their nursing certificate program combines clinical coursework with extensive lab work to provide a great learning opportunity. The CNA program has two weekly courses, on in the day and another in the evening.

CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and clinical training are a part of the program, that lasts about 12 weeks.

Course applicants will need to undergo a physical exam, pass a background check, and have their reading comprehension evaluated before being allowed to enroll in the program.

The goal of the CNA graduate is to be listed on the Health Care Worker Registry, but, that cannot occur unless they pass competency exams after graduation.
